The Cricket Advisory Committee, comprising Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjpe, and Sulakshana Naik, has unanimously recommended Gautam Gambhir as the Head Coach of Team India (Senior Men). Gambhir will take charge starting from the upcoming away series against Sri Lanka, where Team India will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is beginning on July 27, 2024.
The BCCI had invited applications for the position on May 13 to find a successor to Rahul Dravid, whose term ended after the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024.
The Board expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Rahul Dravid for his outstanding service as Head Coach. Dravid's tenure was marked by significant achievements, most notably being crowned champions of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024.India's team also secured second place in the ICC 50-over World Cup in 2023, which took place in India, as well as in the ICC World Test Championship in 2023, held in England.
Dravid has shown exceptional commitment to developing young talent and fostering discipline and sportsmanship within the team. Apart from the team’s dominance in bilateral series at home, his influence on the team’s culture has been profound.
