The top-ranked Indian women's compound archery team advanced to the final on Wednesday, keeping them in the running for a second World Cup gold medal in Yecheon, Korea.

But the men's compound team ranked first in the world fell short of expectations and kept up their poor performance to lose out on a bronze medal in the World Cup Stage 2.

World No. 4 USA 233-229 was defeated in the semifinal by the women's team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur, and Aditi Swami, who won the gold in the Shanghai Stage 1 leg last month.

On Saturday, they will compete in the women's compound team gold medal match here against world no. 7 Turkey.

In the other semi-final, Turkey defeated top-seeded and hometown favourites South Korea 234-233.

The Indian women's team, who qualified second and had a bye into the quarterfinals, had an easy time of it overall. Italy was defeated by them 236-234 in the last eight.

Australia, placed last, defeated the men's team of Priyansh, Prathamesh Fuge, and seasoned Abhishek Verma 133-133 (10-10*) in a shoot-off. The men's team had dropped to fourth in the qualifying round on Tuesday.

The 21st-ranked Australians surprised the three Indians by dropping just one point to start with a 59.
