Scheduled provisionally between November 20 and December 15, 2024, the FIDE World Championship Match is set to be a pinnacle event in the FIDE World Championship Cycle. With a total duration of up to 25 days, the championship promises intense battles on the chessboard.


FIDE, the international governing body for chess, has initiated a bidding procedure to determine the host for this prestigious event. The basic provisions for hosting the championship include a minimum total budget of 8,500,000 USD. This budget must cover various aspects, including the prize fund, FIDE fee, and other organizational expenses.


The Regulations governing the championship must be approved by July 1, 2024, ensuring clarity and fairness in the conduct of the event. The minimum prize fund for the championship stands at 2,500,000 USD, reflecting an increase from the previous year's fund. Additionally, a FIDE fee of 1,100,000 USD is stipulated for the event.




Bidders are required to provide a detailed breakdown of the budget, including proposals for payments to FIDE and distribution of sponsorship and broadcasting rights. The deadline for submission of bids, along with relevant supporting documents, is May 31, 2024, by 23:59 Lausanne time. All submissions must be in English and sent via email to the FIDE Secretariat.


FIDE reserves the right to enter into additional negotiations with any of the Applicants to enhance or modify the bids. The final decision of FIDE will consider the totality of proposed conditions and interests of chess development, ensuring the championship's success and contribution to the global chess community.
